Trans people are so vulgar!

Just to be clear right from the beginning: I never heard someone say this and it's also not my opinion but I guess some people think about this from time to time. Here is a picture of some beautiful flowers since I couldn't find an appropriate picture I liked 😅

Yes, it's right. Trans people sometimes are quite explicit regarding their own experience, preferences or orientation. And sometimes friends who know these trans people from before their transition are pretty surprised. I thought a lot about this phenomenon and I certainly have no conclusion based on evidence and research but I have some … experience 😉

Most people don't really change through transition in terms of their character but it can look like this from the outside. One explanation about what happens is that the person just discovered that there really are not limits to expression, preferences, gender, or sexual orientation other than what you like or don't like, apart from causing harm to other people certainly.

But once they realize this freedom, they see options for themselves they never thought about. It doesn't have to be that they knew about and actively suppressed them. Sometimes you just … don't see it.

Imagine sort of an Alice in Wonderland situation standing in a room. You see two doors leading to somewhere else. Then suddenly the light changes and you see three additional previously concealed doors. You don't have to go through all of them (well … some people are pretty curious and will do) just like you didn't go through all of the obvious ones. But they are there and maybe you are surprised. And this surprise can be a great source of euphoria. So you talk about these doors …

You see where I'm going to? Maybe we (you) need to be a bit sympathetic with people (me). Not everything might be appropriate in the moment it is uttered but this eventually settles when things become more normal.

Remember: we are discovering a new life. We don't have all the answers ourselves. We sometimes don't really understand the things we do or say. And maybe you need to peek through one or the other door to see what really is behind. I'm certainly only talking about hypothetic possibilities here 🤭
